Sunday, October 6th, 2024

After months of fruitless faffing about trying to raise money to pay for the Dimetrodon's engine rebuild, we have finally secured a source of funding. The repair is fully paid for, and it's ready to pick up. We'll need to get a new temporary plate from it, but I understand the Wisconsin DMV is pretty flexible about extending them in special circumstances like ours.

We've spent the last day our two giving our Airbnb in Omaha a thorough cleaning. We've left some sour impressions on our last couple of Airbnb hosts cause we haven't had the spoons to clean up properly and us and the dogs can be a bit messy. They left us some pretty bad reviews and hit us with some massive chargebacks. We appealed them to Airbnb, and of course they sided with the hosts, but at least all that's done now. And we've left our current unit pristine enough that our latest hosts should not have anything to complain about, and hopefully will leave us a good review to offset some of the recent bad ones.

Today, we drove over from Omaha to Cedar Rapids. We're staying in a Motel 6 tonight. This place feels a little shady—the hallway smells so strongly of weed, I'm surprised walking down it didn't get me high—but we only need it for one night. The dogs have been running me ragged for the last couple hours, asking for our practically every 5 minutes and making enough noise I'm worried the neighbors will complain. They've finally settled down now though. I haven't gotten great sleep the last couple nights, but I'm getting to bed nice and early and definitely going to get good sleep tonight. Me and Leo are finally on the same sleep schedule for once too, so we should be able to get a lot tomorrow.

Tomorrow, we're going to pick up the Dimetrodon and we'll finally be able to live in there and get our journey started. It's taken a long time to get here, but things are finally going right. After this, we will never need to deal with another Airbnb host or hotel's pet policy again unless we want to. Tomorrow is going to be a wonderful day!
